Docket printer #
Command buttons #
Workstation parameters in System Parameters determine whether the workstation is recognised as having a Docket printer attached. If this is so, then three specific command buttons are visible in the Loans screen:
These three buttons are enabled after a successful loan, but are disabled before the loan.
- If the operator changes user, or clears the user barcode, the loan docket will print.
- If the operator clicks Clear, then the loan docket is cleared and all three buttons are again disabled – as if there had never been a Loan: clicking the Clear button both suppresses the printing function and clears the user barcode in preparation for a new user to be identified.
Note – that if continued suppression of print output is required, e.g. where the printer has a fault or no paper, then the checkbox ‘Suppress loan docket’ may be selected temporarily.
Clear #
- The Clear button allows print output to be suppressed and clears the current user.
View #
- The View command button allows selected items to be shown as a docket output on screen. Note that normal Windows menu controls allow this output to be sent directly to the printer.
- The Print command button allows the list of items loaned to be sent to the default printer attached to the workstation
Suppress printing of loan docket #
Note that there is a checkbox ‘Suppress printing of loan docket’. The default setting for this checkbox is determined by a Local Setting. The checkbox is only accessible where a docket printer is registered. Normally this checkbox will not be ticked, allowing normal print output unless set in Local Settings to suppress printing. Ticking the box will automatically cancel docket printer functions, and then the checkbox label is shown in red and the docket printer command buttons will not be displayed:
This can be used for instance if a temporary problem is encountered with the printer.
Email loan docket #
At the foot of the user’s summary, a check may be available to allow the user to have the information sent as email rather than output to docket printer. The enterprise parameter EmailLoanDocket – Email Loan Docket if user preference – must be active for this feature to be available.
Note an additional parameter EmailLoanDocetAutoOn exists to change User record set to auto email due-date loan docket if user has email address
