Adding a new charge #
A new charge can be added to the current user: the Add charge tab is selected from the control panel tabs:
- A combo pull-down – selection of the charge type, customised for each library.
The specific charge types can be defined by the library, and are set in the System Parameters (code = GC). A default charge may be associated with a charge type, and defined in the system parameters, but this may be overwritten, e.g. to reflect volume or combination. Once a charge type is selected, the amount box is enabled to allow the operator to enter the appropriate charge. An optional Extra description element is provided to accept additional notes. - Extra Description box – allow additional detail to be connected with the charge
- The item barcode input – allows the charge to be connected to a specific item and the title is listed in the title column of pay a charge tab.
Once the details have been entered to the satisfaction of the operator the save button writes the charge to the User’s account, from where it may be paid and changes the screen to the pay tab ready to pay the charge.
Recording a credit payment #
Note – only an operator with Task Level 9 is able to receive a credit payment. The credit is applied through Add Charge, and Other payment is selected. When the negative is entered, the description ‘Credit note’ is automatically applied, and a yellow flash is shown.
Please note that an Enterprise parameter – MaxCreditCharge – can be set to limit the amount of credit that may be recorded. If this is exceeded, then the save button is suppressed, preventing the excess credit from being recorded.
Additional notes can be added to the description.
