User Messages #

Messages are a simple way of displaying important information. Messages can be displayed on Montage for a user to view or on Astria for the operator to view.
If there is a message to be viewed it will appear as an indicator in the left hand panel on all user screens.

A user message pop up will enable the selection of the type of message and the action of the message.
The content of the actual message is a free form field, allowing the operator to add any data required.

A new message can be added on from the user Message screen.
The Add Message button creates a popup form to add a new message to the user account. ![]()

Message Type #
Set by a drop down filter on each individual message, operators are able to define the type of message in relation to visibility.
- Standard – Visible on both Astria and via Montage.
- Hide from public access – Used for messages not to be show on public access e.g. Montage user portal
Message action #
Set by drop down filter on each individual message, to set the behaviour of the Message
- Permanent – Permanent messages may only be removed by staff action.
- Delete upon viewing. – This enables a temporary message to be constructed – whenever the message is read in circulation screens, then the message will automatically be deleted. Note currently user message only appear as popup in Loans screen, user details popup message in development for Astria
- Delivery – This special action is provided for Libraries for the Blind, to allow for a delivery message to be added for output onto mailing labels. The message remains permanent.
- No operator prompt. – This prevents a message from being included as a popup on circulation screens e.g. Loans. This Message action type is most commonly used by automatic messages created by aurora e.g. The message detailing a user’s ‘claimed returned’ items is a prime example of this category.
Automatic Messaging #
